Contract forces will be closing all lanes of eastbound I-40, during the weekend, in order to perform bridge preservation work on the bridge at the Yadkin River. They will be placing a new concrete overlay on the riding surface of the bridge. The bridge is at the Davie/Forsyth County line near mile marker 181, approximately 1.5 miles east of the NC-801 interchange (Exit 180). The road closure will begin at 8:00 PM on Friday and be in place until 6:00 AM Monday. The road closure will be installed pending favorable weather forecasted for the weekend. There will be a signed offsite detour during the closure.

Motorists are advised to use other routes or avoid this area if possible during these times.

Please use caution in this area and stay alert due to heavy congestion.

The median is closed on I-40 at Union Cross Road (Exit 201) with a temporary barrier wall in place. The barrier wall will give the bridge crew a safe area to perform construction for the new interchange. This work is estimated to take 60 days, therefore this temporary pattern is expected to be in place until the beginning of August. Once complete, crews will remove the portable concrete barrier wall.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed, stay aware of surroundings, and use caution through this work zone. Trucks will be entering and exiting the highway in this area.

We will be making repairs to the concrete substructure and diaphrams on the bridge over I-40 that carries Hwy-601. We will be doing this work over a two week period Monday thru Thursday each week. Please use extreme caution in this area.
